Tudor by Seeley International

Tudor Romeo by Braemar is a brand applied to a range of electric ovens and electric and gas cooktops sold in Australia.

Tudor Appliances began manufacturing cooking products in Tudor Road, Rosebud, Australia in 1987. Obviously, entering the mature and competitive cooking products market required an outstanding product, so Tudor concentrated on producing high quality gas cooktops with less common features at the time, such as wok burners. In fact, one of the company founders, Mr. Robert McLean, was a toolmaker by trade and designed what was believed to be a world first in gas cooktops; a dual control wok burner.

The dual-control Super Simmer combination burner was introduced in 1995, which literally combined several different burner sizes on typical gas appliances into one. One of the major features of this burner was to provide a very low simmer of just 0.3 MJ/h, or about one-tenth the magnitude of conventional burners.

By 1997, Tudor offered a long list of features that were incomparable with any other gas cooktop manufacturer of the time. Features such as three ring wok burners, stainless steel trivets, lifetime guarantee on brass burners, super simmer burners, battery or mains powered igniters and unique wok trivet design helped move Tudor to acceptance by the most discerning consumer. Sizes ranged from full sized four-burner cooktops down to compact two-burner units. A small range of ovens and rangehoods was also produced.

In 2000, Tudor appliances, (which had, by this time, been purchased by Seeley International) was moved to Adelaide, Australia. Seeley International assumed responsibility for sales, marketing and support of the appliances, and provided input to engineering and production.

Under the guidance of Seeley International, Tudor cooking appliances have flourished. In 2001 a new range of electric wall ovens was introduced to supplement the cooktop range and well known Australian celebrity chef Dorinda Haffner participated in product promotion. The brand logo was changed to a simple flame highlighting the excellent natural gas products which Tudor had on offer.

In 2003 the products were rebranded Tudor Romeo and a range of electric cooktops was introduced to complement the existing gas models.

In 2005, production of gas cooktops was moved to Seeley International's gas heater plant in Albury. Great synergies exist with the range of skills and expertise in this field and already these are guiding Tudor appliances to new heights.

Tudor appliances continue to consistently increase market penetration. By remaining at the forefront of elegant, modern styling and persisting with features and benefits which many mass producers do not offer, such as high output wok burners, solid construction and cast iron trivets, Tudor appliances have carved out an excellent and growing niche in the Australian market place.
