Brand History

Seeley International invented the world's first all-polymer, corrosion-free rooftop cooler in 1983. It was initially sold under the Convair brand, but was also purchased by General Electric and sold as Breezair. When General Electric decided to exit this market segment, the Breezair brand was taken over by Seeley International and has been used ever since as its flagship brand for household and industrial coolers.

In the history of consumer products, few have been so advanced for their time that they've lasted more than twenty years without major adjustment or enhancement. Therefore, it's a testament to the incredible design of the original Breezair EA Series cooler that it is still relevant and in production today; the same size, colour and design.

Tens of thousands of the familiar beige coloured units can be found all around the world cooling everything from houses to houseboats, greenhouses to outhouses and shops to factories. Obviously, we've made some internal improvements along the way, such as the introduction of variable speed motors in 1986 and the incorporation of the Tornado™ pump in the late 1990s, but today's unit is essentially identical. We could well be making this incredible cooler for another 50 years.

The original Breezair cooler developed an enviable reputation for reliability very early on. In fact, most of the units sold to date are still believed to be in regular operation and within their corrosion-free warranty period - and fully supported by Seeley International's spare parts and service network. The brilliant Breezair design was instrumental in forcing other centrifugal blower cooler manufacturers to fall by the wayside or convert to axial fan coolers in an attempt to survive.

Not content to rest on the laurels of the original cooler, the decision was made to produce a revolutionary new all-polymer, corrosion-free concept to the market. The new cooler would have a lower profile, contoured shape, advanced anti-splash louvres, high performance cellulose pads and fully electronic controls. It would also be available in a range of colours. Best of all, the new cooler required no seasonal maintenance. The Breezair EM series cooler debuted in 1993 and once again revolutionised the world of evaporative cooling. Later, the range was enhanced by the Mirage series variant with a sloped base designed to match the roof gradient.

Continuous changes are made to Breezair coolers to improve efficiency, performance and reliability, but none like the amazing Breezair Icon series cooler introduced in 2004. The Breezair Icon series is the most advanced evaporative cooler available globally, today. The incredible electronic technology and revolutionary HushPower motor mean that the Breezair Icon series can cool a whole house from as little as the cost of running a light bulb. There is no cooling product available today anywhere in the world that comes close to matching the efficiency of a Breezair Icon series cooler.
